CONGRATULATIONS!!

Wells Fargo

The Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas (HWNT) - Austin Chapter has been selected as a recipient of a $5,000 donation from Wells Fargo Bank. The donation was part of Wells Fargo’s local outreach efforts to support HWNT’s education program that awards college scholarships to young Hispanic women.  The funds were presented to HWNT Austin Chapter Chair, Luisa Gaviño-Martinez, by Wells Fargo District Manager Olivia Juarez.

This contribution will enable HWNT to award $10,000 in college scholarships to deserving Central Texas Latina students.

"Hispanics account for a significant segment of employees entering the U.S. labor force and an educated Latino population is fundamental to the future productivity and growth of the country's economy," said Gaviño-Martinez. "HWNT recognizes and rewards outstanding Latina students pursuing a higher education; Central Texas Hispanic students have a true champion on their side in Wells Fargo, which recognizes the importance of education in the success of our community."

Olivia Juarez, District Manager, presented the check to HWNT Austin Board Members: Leslie Leal, Luisa Gavino-Martinez and Mireya Hord.

Past Events

The Hispanic Women's Network of Texas (HWNT-Austin),
the Young Hispanic Professional Austin Assn (
YHPAA)
and the National Society of Hispanic MBAs (
NSHMBA)

joined together in
June for a Membership Mixer
and it was a great success!

This was a great way to mingle and network with other local Hispanic organizations - we had over 80+ attendees and collected items for The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Austin.

Thank you for your support!

Get Involved!

HWNT Austin is supporting Our Mission Possible and their efforts to keep Central Texas teens in school.  The organization identifies "at risk teens" through truancy and delinquency programs and provides a program of awareness in the participants of their individual power and their uniqueness. It encourages them to believe that they have, as yet undeveloped, talents and abilities; that they have choices; that the first step toward success and happiness in life is to show up, to stand tall, to be present; and that accomplishing their dream is possible.

We NEED VOLUNTEERS for the next student session.

Have a direct impact on these students' lives.  Come out and share your story, listen to theirs and provide them with the tools for them to take charge of their future and success.

For more information on volunteering, contact Luisa Gaviño-Martinez at austinchair@hwnt.org.  Visit www.ourmp.org to learn more about their programs and mission.
